Amelia and Cora rocked this!
Not only did they set up and take fantastic photos independently but they also dictated very clear text and added to the original story.
Big ups to the both of you!!

Smarty Pants Collage Art

We have been reading the big book Smarty Pants by Joy Cowley.

We created these cool collage artworks.   First we found pages of colours in magazines to tear out.  We tore them into small pieces then glued them onto our pants with groups of colours together.  Mrs Fong was very fussy; she wouldnt let us finish quickly.  She made us fill in all the spaces.  Some of us put stars and other shapes on them like Smarty Pants had in the book.  We cut out the pants when they were dry.  Then we drew a background with sharpie and dyed them ourselves.  Next we took photos of ourselves lying down with our arms out on the carpet and photos of our feet.  We laid it all out on our background and glued ourselves on.  Some of us even added a hat.  We are very proud of them.  We are going to show them in our assembly next week!

Fizzing and Foaming Unit

We have had great fun experimenting with things that fizz and foam.  Check out some of our pictures and video.

Trying to make a film canister pop.

 Dancing raisins

Cola and Mentos

Getting more into the science...

We learnt that when a carbonate mixes with an acid,
it makes a gas which fizzes.

Splish, Splash

Created by Blake, Oscar. Jack and Amith. This is their innovation of a book they read,  They had some wardrobe and standing challenges with the dolls they used in their photos.  They overcame by working together.  It never ceases to amaze me how easily the children are able to use ipad applications!  Enjoy this simple book...

Maori Legend Retell

We have been reading and writing about Maori legends.  This week the children worked in groups to create a simple retelling.  Before beginning they had to plan the process.  First they decided on the story they would tell (most chose the same), then they sequenced the main events, their next job was to list the characters and scenes before deciding who would draw each one.
Once that was done they set about creating their Puppet Pal creation.  They photographed and imported their artworks, animated and narrated their story.

Teddy and Monkey

The long awaited digital story from this group has been created.  They had to really think about the sequence of this story as well as how to use a new app.  This app allows for more editing but is not as simple as others we have used.  Benedict was a star in guiding the group through this.  If you listen carefully they were also learning about watching the numbers to know when to speak for their recording. As always they took the photos and dictated the text.   Fantastic work children!  I am proud of you

Look at the gorgeous poppies we drew in memorisation of Anzac day

Wendy, Ocsar, and Abigal.  Stayed focused setting up and taking photos, then dictating text in response to the book My Little Cat.  Didn't they do well!
