Some of our Parana and Memorial Park photos

We visited Parana and Memorial Parks in mixed groups.  Each group had an iPad to take photos.  When we got back we used photos on our class iPads to make these collages of the things we saw.

Our Bio Poems

To kick off our character writing we have written bio poems about ourselves.  We wrote them over a few days.  Next we drew a picture of ourselves to illustrate the poem.

Listen to us read them by clicking on the link above to Our fotobabbles.

What we know about being Firewise

What we have learnt about being Firewise

  • Make sure  candles do not have things by them that can catch on fire
  • Put  candles out
  • Stay away  form hot fires and heaters.  Elyse said, "1 meter from the heater."
  • No running where someone is cooking like the kitchen or barbecue.
  • Never leave cooking alone.  Don't ask someone who is cooking to leave the kitchen to help me.  A fire could start.
  • Don't  play  with matches or lighters  they  are tools.
  • Give matches and lighters to adults if we find them.
  • We  have  to crawl out if smoke is in the room fast- Get down, get low, get out FAST
  • We have to shout, "Fire, fire."
  • Worry about yourself getting out.  Not others
  • Practice getting out of the house
  • Check our smoke alarms work
  • Meet at the safe place (the gate or the letter box).
  • Stay and wait for the firefighters.  Firefighters have special gear to protect them from hot fire and smoke.
  • Never go back inside.  Wait until the firefighters say it is safe.

Fire needs air (oxygen)

This experiment shows us that fire needs air to keep burning.
If a fire is not in the room we are in, we can close a door to help slow the fire down while we get out of the room another way.

God is There in One

We used this experiment to show that God is three in one.

We began with milk.  Then we put in three different colours.  One to show the Father, the second was the Son and the third colour was the Holy Spirit.

When we put a few drops of detergent all the colours mixed together.  In time the milk was all one colour (we forgot to take a photo when we looked again later).
