I am so proud of you room 5.  I challenged you to weave baskets for Easter.  You all said you couldn’t do it, but you pushed through, used your resilience to persevered and look….  You did it!  You all worked so well together to help each other. Good on you Room 5!

This week we have been exploring the idea of measuring volume. We have used a variety of non-standard containers to compare the volumes of containers.

As part of our experiences we were challenged to construct a cylinder to fit certain numbers of objects.  Most of us did it!   We had to keep changing the size of our cylinders. Group b said, “First it was too big then we made it skinny and it was to small.  Then we made it a bit bigger and it was the right size.”

Bug’s Race

This is a variation on the story Sam’s Race, a book the children read.  Special thanks goes to Oliver who helped Daniel set up and take the photos within a particular application to create the story. 
Fred came on board to tell the story with Daniel.  They had a go at keying in the text themselves before dictating it to me.  Next time they will have a go at working the app more themselves. 
The story is a fantastic adaption of the human version using different words to the original text.  Well done boys.
